Bukovinsky variety was bred at the Transnistrian Experimental Station of Horticulture and was recognised for its high yield and resistance to diseases. The tree is medium-sized, with a spreading crown up to 10 metres in diameter. Flowering occurs in mid-May, with proto-andric type of pollination. A distinctive feature of the variety is lateral bearing, thanks to which nuts are formed not only on the tops, but also on the lateral buds of annual shoots. The first nuts appear on the 6th-7th year after planting, and by mid-September they reach full maturity. The nuts have a rounded shape and an average weight of 10−14 g. The yield of one tree is 100−120 kg per season. The shell is thin, with small septa, which makes it much easier to extract the kernel. The kernel is light, aromatic, with a pleasant sweetish taste, and its yield reaches 52.5%. Thanks to its excellent taste and stable yield, this variety is a promising choice for gardeners. If you are looking for a reliable variety with high potential for commercial cultivation or a personal garden, Bukovyna walnut will be an excellent choice!
