Walnut variety Broadway is a frost-resistant, short-fruited and thin-barked variety bred in Canada from Ukrainian walnuts imported by emigrants from Odessa in the 1930s.
Variety features: Medium-sized tree: reaches a height of about 5 metres, making it easy to harvest. High yield: up to 70 kg of nuts can be harvested from one tree. Rapid bearing: first fruiting starts in the 4th year after planting. Fruit: round shape, weighing 13-16 grams, with a thin shell, from which the kernel is easily extracted. Kernel filling: is 50%. Kernel: light amber in colour, without the bitterness characteristic of many other walnut varieties. Fruiting type: lateral
The Broadway variety is ideal for climates with cold winters due to its high frost resistance, and its yield and fruit quality make it an excellent choice for commercial and private growers.
3-year-old walnut seedling: adapted to the climate, ready for planting in open ground
