VA-21 Walnut The VA-21 walnut is a drought-tolerant and frost-resistant variety. The tree exhibits vigorous growth and has a pyramidal shape. The nuts are slightly elongated, oval-shaped, and weigh between 12−13 g. The kernel is white, and in the 2023−24 seasons, no signs of pericarp scorching were observed. A key characteristic of this variety is its high kernel yield, which in some years exceeds 60%. During the winter of 2011−2012, when temperatures dropped to -32°C, this variety endured the extreme cold without damage, demonstrating exceptional frost resistance.
