The Howard walnut is an American walnut variety known for its high yield and frost resistance down to -25 Β°C. The walnuts are oval in shape, large in size and have thin, slightly rough shells that are easy to crack. The walnuts are of medium size 13βˆ’15 g, with high quality kernels with 90% lightness and a kernel yield of about 50%. The tree is medium-sized, with a compact crown, which allows efficient use of space when planting, characterised by lateral (lateral) bearing. The variety is suitable for dense plantings. Begins to bear nuts in the 3rd-4th year after planting.
Howard is valued for its resistance to the main walnut diseases, high yield, early bearing, nuts quality and the possibility of dense planting, which makes it a popular choice among gardeners and farmers.
